We Outside

Click for schedule

We Outside! is a free 8 week summer program for families with children ages 0 to 5. Each week centers on a featured children’s book, which serves as the foundation for activities in reading, counting, art, music, and outdoor play. Every family also receives a Grow-at-Home Kit with simple resources and activities tied to that week’s book, providing easy, hands-on ways to continue the learning at home.

Families gather each week at a different community location around Philadelphia, including libraries, museums, parks, and play spaces, all at no cost. These visits help children see that learning extends beyond the home, while offering families enjoyable, low cost opportunities to explore the city together throughout the summer.

Summer is a time when children often experience learning loss from the school year. We Outside! helps address this by making learning a natural and enjoyable part of everyday summer life, while equipping families with simple tools to support their child’s confidence, curiosity, and early skill development.
